Killers of Asiya, Neelofar, and others be brought to Justice-Farooq Rehmani

Regime is responsible before people and international law
Islamabad May 30, 2012: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People's Freedom
League, Muhammad Muhammad  Farooq Rehmani  has paid glowing tributes
to Asiya, and Neelofar of Shopian on their martyrdom anniversary and
all those women and girls from Kupwara to Shopian, who were robbed of
honour, molested, and brutally murdered, or kidnapped and forcibly
married under gun and used as a weapons of military operations by army
and rented militants during the last 22 years of trial and
tribulation of Kashmir. He said whether  Kunan-Poshpora, Panzipora, or
Shopian or numerous other Kashmiri localities, where women and girls
were, criminally assaulted, killed and thrown into ravines or rivers
by army, police, deserve practical public support to punish their
perpetrators of crime." The dark aspect of their grim saga is that
the victims and their parents have never been heard, nor justice
done," he regretted.

Referring to those oppressed and helpless women and their parents or
guardians, he said, " they still wait for justice, but the regime  is
apathetic towards them, rather shielding the culprits by various means
and tactics. This criminal negligence is an ugly scar on  India  in
the conflict- zone of Kashmir. Obviously, not punishing  criminals
amounts to condoning their crime."

But, he said, "equally  politicians and leaders are responsible for
their failure and callousness to agitate the issue  and punishing the
scot-free brute and inhuman personnel of the regime.  Just  paying lip
service to the victims of rape or murder or both is not enough.
Although our social ethos  prevent victims of animal lust, or their
parents and brothers to come out and press for justice, but under the
circumstances  and  the underlying cause of atrocity and abuse, it's
the duty of the leadership to raise the voice forcefully, and
mobilizing  courts to trace the culprits and punish them under law.
The so-called Kashmir regime supported exonerated their guilt by
transferring the accused officers to unknown places."

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said, "The honour of our victimized women is
very important. It  can't be forgiven. No doubt  years have passed
since fall of the tragedy over Kashmir. The double rape-murder case of
Asiya and Neelofar martyrs, or any other such tragedy of any family of
Kashmir is not a local issue .Every such issue is our responsibility,
and the responsibility of the UNO at large. Therefore, all those
culprits, criminals in any capacity  must be brought to book and
sentenced to uphold  honour of women, society and humanity."

He said, "since the regime and its civil and military brass has only
shielded criminals throughout these long years of turmoil, therefore
the time has come when legal fraternity, human rights activists and
political leaders with their rigorous campaign should take the
Shopian, Kunan Poshpora and other such heinous crimes to the
international community to punish culprits, who committed heinous
crimes against Kashmiri women in the last two decades, but are still
at large with the support of regime-high-ups."
