Sacrilegious acts have deeper ramifications on Kashmir - Muhammad Farooq Rehmani

Islamabad, 30 Jun, 2012: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People's Freedom League Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has expressed serious apprehensions regarding the acts of desecrating shrines, mosques, Qur'an and other holy relics, one after the other in different parts of Kashmir, believing to have been manipulated to enmesh the people in communal frenzy and sowing seeds of hatred, between Muslims and non-Muslims but also amongst the Muslims themselves. He feared that the enemies and vested interests in Kashmir were in league to divert the attention of the world from an unresolved imbroglio and the right of self-determination to the devil's prejudices.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani felt that the backlash could be unimaginable and it had regional and international ramifications for the future of Kashmir and peace. "It could mar ability of the stake-holders to resolve the dispute peacefully and honestly," he said.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that the communal harmony in these confusing and dark times was so crucial and indispensable to the movement of freedom; while as evil practices of desecration were aimed at portraying Kashmir in an ugly manner before the world. He advised Kashmiris to guard their national interests well and all communities, united   protect; worshiping places, shrines and relics and historical heritage of centuries. If the Kashmiris failed to act as true patriots, nobody will care for them. The movement of the right to self-determination depends on patriotism and not on opportunism.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani urged Indian administration to lift all sorts of restrictions on normal life and stop rounding- up and prosecuting innocent people in the name of law and order. The provocative prohibitory measures, he said, "have crippled economy, and purchasing- power of the people, whose vast majority lives in abject poverty while a small class of exploiters thrives at the country's resources."

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani warned that the right of self-determination was facing a world-vide challenge of unprecedented nature that could be faced by a broad-based strategy on the basis of the UN manifesto.
